Welcome to Eat Pray Serve. I want to help you connect your passion with your purpose. There are so many great resources about discovering your passion – and I’ll likely share some throughout our journey together. But do you know what is so much more powerful than finding your passion? Leveraging it to achieve your purpose!
You don’t really need me, or anyone else, to help you find these two amazingly interconnected things.
Deep down inside, you’ve always known the thing that makes you so wonderfully, uniquely you.
This is your purpose, it is what propels your desires and your actions. Then there are the things that excite and drive you, the things that really set you on fire. This is your passion, and it is the fuel to the fire that is your purpose.
Without passion, you lack the will to persevere in fulfilling your purpose. And without purpose your passion lacks direction, it’s a “bird without wings.”
So I invite you on a journey with me: to Eat Pray Serve. I hope you’ll gain clarity on both of these things: your passion and your purpose. These are the main themes that run through this blog. I promise you don’t need me to help you find them. They’ve been there the whole time. But maybe you need the permission to pursue them, and some tools and resources to activate them?
So we’re all on the same page right, and can agree there is an innate connection between passion and purpose? Don’t worry we’ll dive more into that in my next post, where we’ll learn to use your passion as a barometer for fulfillment of your purpose. Can we get one more thing out of the way? Stay with me, I promise not to make you do this often…let’s all say it together, out loud
I don’t need to find my purpose, it found me.
Wow! Doesn’t that feel good, and take some of the pressure off this road to self discovery. I feel better already.
So since you don’t need to find your passion or your purpose, it’s been there all along, what’s holding you back?
What’s gotten in the way of activating your passion for your purpose? Are you so busy “adulting” that you’ve gotten off your path? I feel ya! Let me just say, I’ve been there…heck sometimes I feel like I’m still there and then I have to take a step back and dig deep. This is the hard part for me. Sometimes I get so busy driving towards “achieving,” that I forget to check in with whether my passion and purpose are in alignment.
Sometimes the noise of the world around you, with it’s constant unsolicited feedback, drowns out the voice that matters the most. The voice that should be the loudest, that drives and propels you towards the path you were meant for…your inner voice. Let’s give the power back to the truest, purest part of you.
Don’t worry…I’m not going to get deep into yogic philosophy, or any philosophy. Though if you haven’t found a way to quiet your mind and the constant chatter that resides there – I highly recommend you give yoga a try – CHANGED MY LIFE!
Now that we’ve taken the pressure off of finding your passion and purpose, let’s take some steps to help unbury it. Try out these 4 steps to give the power back to your voice. These exercises are super simple, but they will require you to spend just a bit of time focusing on you.Remember we are talking about the real you.
This will require you to peel back some layers of the wonderfully complex, multi faceted, amazing, smart talented woman that you are.
We are talking about the deep down you that exists when no one else is around, when you are alone with your thoughts, or dancing in your underwear (I can’t be the only one). I’m not saying the family, 9-5, public facing you isn’t marvelously wonderful, and authentic. But reconnecting with your inner voice – the one that will help guide you back to your deep desires and where your true purpose lies – it requires an openness and vulnerability that the public facing me just isn’t down with.
I hate to say it, but I told you so! You didn’t need someone or something out there to give you clarity over your life’s passion or purpose. These are things that come from deep inside you, they are ingrained in who you are.
Your passion and purpose can only come from within you.
If you dig deep and get real with yourself you might find that you’ve been waiting for permission from someone else to tell you to go for it. Or you’ve been too busy “adulting” and let life get in your way.
Take your power back, and give yourself permission to unapologetically pursue your dreams. Only you can find your purpose, and let your passion fuel you.
But I’m happy to help guide you through the twists and turns we will undoubtedly encounter on this incredibly fulfilling journey.
