Every single one of us has a wonderfully unique purpose in life.
There is a reason that you exist exactly the way you are. There is a reason that you exist at the time you are. There is a reason for all of your experiences – good and bad – after all the bad are the ones that often shape us the most. There is a reason for all of your little quirks, for every thing that makes you different from me, from your friends, your siblings and your parents.
All of the things that come together to shape you into you, help fulfill your unique purpose. Your purpose is different from my purpose, just like our experiences are.
My purpose, like my passion, has been strong and clear since I was very young. I am here to change the world. You may laugh, but hopefully you won’t, because I don’t see this as being naive.
Every single one of has a unique and powerful ability to influence and affect change.
I’m a big believer that if you dream it you can achieve it. And I dream of a better world. I’m not sure what that looks like just yet, nor am I sure of how I will achieve it. But I know for certain that this is why I am here. This is why I breath every day. This is my purpose.
Maybe your purpose isn’t so clear.
Maybe it’s more abstract – though change the world is about as macro as it gets. Or maybe your purpose feels and sounds much more narrow, more tangible, more achievable and you think I’m a dreamer with my head in the clouds. That’s okay. We are all different, and that is GREAT!
But can we agree that you are here for a reason?
What’s your purpose in life?
Maybe you describe it with different words, feelings, images. But were you able to Get Clear through some of last weeks exercises? Still too abstract for you? Let’s try asking this question a few different ways:
Still too esoteric for you? I promise if you keep reading, I’ll eventually get you to hop on this granola eating, kumbaya singing, #changemaker path.
If you’re with me, and want to live a purpose-filled, passion driven life, you might want to trade in your heels for hiking boots.
This path can be windy, poorly defined, rugged, muddy, you name it. Expect the unexpected they say. The only constant is change. This is definitely the path less traveled. But no matter where you are in life: soon to be college graduate, young professional yearning for more, or well on your way as impact driven do gooder…I’ve been there.
Every single bump in the road, broken heel along the way, it is worth it.
Just because I told you to wear hiking boots, doesn’t mean I haven’t taken the trek in heels…
If you keep digging deep, driving towards finding personal and professional fulfillment…I can’t show you the destination, but I can promise there will be some beautiful sites along the way.
Hopefully you took a deep breath and dipped your toe in the purpose driven water with me last week.
Do you feel a little clearer about your path?
The path that’s meant for you, and you alone? Just taking the leap and getting out of your comfort zone, being willing to explore your inner most wants and needs. Just asking yourself the question: what truly motivates you? You are taking a huge step towards connecting your passion and purpose.
Won’t you tread a little deeper with me?
Now that you’re on this journey with me, let’s talk more about the role passion plays in fulfilling your purpose.
If you can harness, and hone your passions, in order to help you achieve your greater purpose – wouldn’t that be amazing?
Later this week I’ll be sharing my “Passion Check Up,” and some tools to tell when your passion and purpose are out of alignment.
I’m glad to have you on this journey with me!
Until next time…Eat Pray Serve!
